Judges uphold the rule of law to sustain a society that offers freedom, opportunity, equality, security and safety to all its citizens. The rule of law comes to life in thousands of cases across the state and the country every day, like those you can find, and take part in, here. This exhibit is a mock trial of Miss Emily Hand, who is accused of shoplifting a pair of gloves from a ski outlet. You can participate in this trial by either being the prosecutor, the defense attorney, or a member of the jury. The prosecutor and defense attorney choose strategy and ask questions of the witnesses, as well as give opening and closing speeches to the court. The jury will vote at the end of the trial, and their votes will be the verdict in the case.
